SmashBack iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

SmashBack! is a Brick Breaker-style game that was recently released on the App Store by Japanese developer Craft In The Night. The game has you playing as  an Isekai witch as you take on waves of objects and enemies. There’s actually a story in between each level, but I found it a little tough to follow. SmashBack plays a bit different from the usual Brick Breaker-style games. Your character automatically moves to the area that the orb is in while you swipe the screen which way you want to attack. The mechanics took me a little while to get the hang of in the beginning. It’s all about finding that sweet spot on when to swipe. As you progress, you’ll earn coins that you can use in between levels to upgrade your power/defense and purchase new gear. SmashBack isn’t a perfect game by any means. The visuals aren’t the greatest looking and the UI is primitive. But, the game is actually pretty fun! I’m a big fan of Brick Breaker games, so it’s been nice seeing a different spin on the genre. SmashBack is a charming little game with a bit of depth to keep you playing. If you’re a fan of Brick Breaker-style games, SmashBack may be worth checking out.
