Townsfolk iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Townsfolk is a roguelike strategy game that was recently released on the App Store by Short Circuit Studio (Teeny Tiny Town). The game has you leading a group of settlers as you embark on new territory and try to stake your claim. Townsfolk is all about staying alive. You’ll need to focus on your resources as you build on each tile that you unlock. Like building houses will gain you more people, but consume more food. It’s all about balance and making sure that you are gaining resources everyday instead of losing. Of course, there are always curveballs thrown at you from time to time where you will have to make decisions on what to do. Bad storms, wild bears, overbearing kings wanting tribute. Townsfolk is not an easy game by any means. As you progress, you’ll earn skills that you can use to help you out along your journey. I honestly haven’t been able to put the game down since playing. Townsfolk is a really solid roguelike with a ton of depth. I will say that it takes quite a while to go through its extensive tutorial. I understand that there is a lot to learn in this game, but the tutorial seemed to drag on when I just wanted to get started. Regardless, Townsfolk is an absolute gem. If you’re a fan of strategy games or roguelikes, I can’t recommend this game enough!
