(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

DYNO Rock Climbing is an arcade platformer that was recently released on the App Store by Staple Games. DYNO has you taking the control of a pair of hands as you climb your way up three different mountains. I originally almost passed this game up due to it looking too arcade-y for me. Thankfully I decided to check it out. DYNO’s mechanics take a bit getting used to, but is ultimately its main sticking point. You are basically swiping the screen to move one of your hands up and then holding your thumb down once your hand is on part of the mountain. So, the rhythm is swipe/hold/swipe/hold. Like I said, it takes a few to get used to it. Levels start off fairly simple, but later on you have to start worrying about sliding on mud and ice or dodging obstacles. As you progress, you’ll earn coins that you can use to purchase new cosmetic gloves or to unlock other areas. There’s not much else to DYNO. It’s just a unique little arcade game with a simple art style. Of course, my only issue is the whole F2P “energy system”. I’m never a fan of games that lock gameplay behind timers. But, if you can get past it DYNO Rock Climbing is a fun little game.
