Detective Lawrence and the Cosmic Machine iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Detective Lawrence and the Cosmic Machine is an adventure puzzle game that was recently released on the App Store by developer FM Studio. In this game you play as Detective Lawrence who has been called to the house of an old friend and when he arrives there, the place is eerily empty. So, it’s your job to figure out what the heck is going on. The game plays out in side-scroller fashion. You walk left and right using the on-screen buttons and look for any clues by hitting the “examine” button. From there, you’ll pick up items and solve puzzles to figure out more of the story. What sets this game apart is the wide variety of puzzles and mini-games. Detective Lawrence is kind of a mishmash of everything. You’ve got tons of different mechanics going on all while trying to solve the mystery. I haven’t finished the game yet, but I’ve been having a lot of fun with Detective Lawrence and the Cosmic Machine so far. The puzzles are well thought out and the overall theme is charming. I also love that the game is in portrait mode. If you’re a fan of escape games or mystery games, Detective Lawrence is definitely worth checking out.
