(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Alright. I know that I usually try to write about smaller games, but I couldn’t help myself with this one. A Game About Digging A Hole (CyberWave) is a simulation-style game that was originally released on PC back in February and just recently on the App Store. The game is exactly what the title claims to be. You buy a house that claims to have treasure in the backyard. So, you start digging right away, scoop by scoop. As you dig, you’ll pick up different types of rocks and resources that you can sell in your garage. As you earn money, you’ll use that to upgrade your gear and charge your battery making future runs easier. That’s honestly it! Of course, there are secrets and lore to find that I won’t get into. But, the main gameplay loop is mainly just digging and upgrading. As far as the port goes, I’ve been playing on an iPad with little to no issues so far. The on-screen joystick and buttons aren’t anything special, but get the job done. I will say that some players have come across some issues on certain devices, so double-check the App Store reviews before downloading. AGADAH definitely won’t be for everyone. It can be very slow and repetitive for some. But, if you’re like me and enjoy playing games like Powerwash and Lawnmower Simulator, AGADAH is a lot of fun! There’s just something satisfying about digging a large hole one scoop at a time.
