Pickaxe King Island is a pixel art tycoon-style game that was recently released on the App Store by Rogue Union. The game has you playing as a lone King that’s left on an island with nothing but a pickaxe. And it’s up to you to create a thriving village. PKI is all about managing resources. You buy chickens to get eggs, cook eggs to make food, then sell said food to make money, and so on. Everything is done with a quick swing of your pickaxe and each swing uses a bit of energy. Once you use up all your energy, the King will need to rest for a couple seconds. Things start off pretty quick and easy. I had some cows, chickens, and a wheat farm in no time. You are constantly doing something. As you progress, you’ll start adding new islands, meeting new people, and a bunch more. I’ve been having a lot of fun with Pickaxe King Island so far. It’s simple yet has just enough depth to keep you engaged while playing. If you’re looking for a fun little resource management game, Pickaxe King Island is worth checking out.
