Coffee Pool iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

About a year ago, I reviewed a game called Coffee Golf (by Shallot Games). It was a really fun casual golf game that just needed a few tweaks to be great. Well, last week the developer released their next game in the series, Coffee Pool. Coffee Pool is a minimalist style pool game with simple mechanics and a beautiful art style. My complaint with Coffee Golf was that there really wasn’t much incentive to play outside of just……well, playing. This time around a bit more was added. You have new table layouts each day and an actual League Mode. The League Mode is kind of cool with random rules and modifiers thrown at you with each level. You’ll have things like shot calling, blocked holes, color matching, and more. It really helps with keeping things fresh when playing. Unfortunately, there’s still no overall incentive to play. You earn coins for each win, but have nothing to spend the coins on. It’s a shame because it just makes the game feel unfinished. It would’ve been nice to be able to purchase new pool sticks, tables, or whatever. Hopefully we’ll see something like this in future patches. As of right now Coffee Pool is still a fun little casual pool game. Just don’t expect a lot of longevity with it.
