Grave Strikers iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Grave Strikers is a shooter/defense-style roguelike that was recently released on the App Store by BolterSquad. Inspired by 90’s action movies, the game has you taking control of characters like “Bruce Wallace” or “Silver Stone” as you take on waves of zombies, robots, and demons. Grave Strikers kind of mixes castle defense with shmup-style gameplay. As enemies come in from the top of the screen, you’ll use your finger to drag your character across the bottom while automatically shooting. What makes this game a little unique is that you start each run with 3 characters and every 10 seconds or so, you rotate shooters. Each character has their own shooting patterns that can hurt or help you depending on the situation. As you progress, you’ll earn experience and collect coins that you can use to unlock new power-ups. Grave Strikers has a fun game loop, but feels like it is weighed down a little by its upgrade system. Outside of coins and gems (premium currency), there are keys, rations, and relics that you’ll need to collect in order to improve your shooters. The whole thing is a bit confusing to be honest. Regardless, Grave Strikers is still a whole lot of fun. With no timers to deal with and a ton of things to unlock, Grave Strikers is definitely worth checking out.
