(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Acecraft: Sky Hero is a roguelite shoot-em-up published by Skystone Games that was recently released on the App Store. This game has had one hell of a marketing budget with ads popping up on just about every social media platform! For those of you that haven’t seen any of the ads, Acecraft is a beautiful looking shooter with 1930’s cartoon style visuals. Everything about this game screams polish. From the gorgeous UI, background visuals, to the soundtrack, the game feels like you are actually playing a real cartoon. Now, as far as gameplay goes, Acecraft takes a lot of inspiration from games like Archero. Each level has you taking on waves of enemies while earning experience and stacking upgrades. There are tons of unique enemies each with their own attack patterns and weaknesses. Same goes for the mini-bosses at the end of each level. The game itself is an absolute gem for shooter fans. Unfortunately, Acecraft takes a little too much inspiration from F2P games like Archero. There is so much “fluff” outside of the game itself. You have Events, Patrols, Flight Logs, Cloud Fishing, Cheese Festivals, 7 Day Carnival, Bingo, Pilot Recruiting, Navigator Pass, you get the idea. I found myself spending more time fumbling around all the different pages clicking buttons than I did actually playing the game sometimes. I didn’t know whether to be impressed or insulted when seeing all of the extra stuff on the screen! That being said, Acecraft is still an impressive game that deserves some praise. It looks and plays absolutely amazing. I just wish that they didn’t go so hard on free to play mechanics.

Wind up! Time to fix the world! There’s als…
