(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Punch TV is a team-based fighting game and newest title to hit the App Store by developer Four Fats. Taking place as a contestant on a TV show, your job is to fight your way up the Tower of Champions and win the contest. Now, I’m not a huge fighting game fan. I like them, but I’m also horrible at them. Luckily, Punch TV does a good job simplifying everything. You basically have just a jump button and a few attack buttons (plus the joystick) to work with. The game itself is a lot of fun. The fighting is fluid, there are tons of characters to unlock and upgrade, and there are quite a few different modes. The overall presentation is highly polished. Unfortunately, it’s not all puppies and rainbows with Punch TV. The main thing being the monetization. Drafting new characters will cost you 2500 gold for random standard characters and 10 gems for random premium characters. (You can also purchase any character directly for 30 gems.) Winning/Losing a match only grants you 25-ish coins, so saving up for a single character is going to take a TON of grinding! It’s a shame for a game that has such a large roster of fighters. That being said, Punch TV is still a lot of fun. Even though I’ve been stuck with the same two characters the entire game, you’re able to earn experience and upgrade your stats as you progress. So, there’s technically no paywalls to beat the game. I’m still having fun with Punch TV. If you’re a fan of Four Fats other games or are into fighting games, Punch TV is definitely worth checking out.
