Farmer Dude is another brick breaker-style roguelike that was recently released on the App Store by MiMU Studios. The game has you playing as a farmer that is trying to defend his farm from an onslaught of monsters. That’s about it when it comes to the story. Farmer Dude is basically a roguelike with no end goal. Each run has you fighting off endless waves of enemies until you eventually die. You’ll earn experience for killing enemies and apply temporary power-ups during each run. As you progress, you’ll earn currency that you can use for permanent upgrades. That’s basically your game loop in a nutshell. Farmer Dude is a pretty fun game that feels like it’s missing something. The 2D visuals and overall theme is charming and there are plenty of upgrades and unique characters to unlock. But, with no levels or actual endgame, things start to feel repetitive after a while. If you’re a fan of Brick Breaker games, there’s still some fun to be had here. Just don’t go in expecting a whole lot.
