(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Sloppy Fish is a physics-based high score chaser that was recently released on the App Store by indie developer Yotam Frid. It’s a simple game that has you in control of……well, you’re in control of a sloppy fish in the water. The object is to fling your fish out of water and through an endless strand of floating rings. It’s a simple concept that ends up taking a lot of skill. One of those “easy to learn, hard to master” games. Jumping through a ring earns you points with combo points added when jumping through multiple rings without missing. There’s not much to Sloppy Fish outside of getting as far as possible before the day ends. As you progress, you’ll earn experience and unlock new sea creatures that you can use. As far as I can tell, these creatures seem to be only cosmetic. Sure, it would’ve been nice for each fish to have its own unique play style, but it’s at least something to play for outside of a score. Sloppy Fish is a cool little high-score chaser that can make you grin and want to throw your phone all in the same run. I’m not gonna brag, but ahem, I’m pretty damn good at this game. Unfortunately, GameCenter seems to be broken at the moment. I’m hoping this will get fixed asap. Either way, if you’re a fan of silly physics-based arcade games, Sloppy Fish is worth checking out.
