Archero 2 iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

I don’t know if you heard, but the sequel to Habby’s casual roguelike juggernaut Archero released worldwide on the App Store and Google Play recently. I don’t usually write reviews for games like these, but I’ll admit. We were pretty hooked on Archero here at SNAPP Studios when it originally released. We even had a dedicated Discord channel for it! Like most of these F2P live service games, we eventually got bored of it after a while. Well, I sunk some time into Archero 2 recently and unfortunately, I wasn’t very impressed. Sure, it had the same gameplay mechanics that made the original so fun. But, outside of some new power-ups and weapons, it’s still the same old game. Even the art style and visuals look similar to the original. I will say that Habby did a good job trying to keep you in their ecosystem for as long as possible. There’s fishing, mining, hunting, puzzles, etc. And that’s on top of all the daily, weekly achievements and loot crates. I felt like I spent more time clicking on random buttons and clearing out tasks than I did on the actual game! It feels like more time and effort went into adding all of these “events” than on upgrading the core game. (I won’t even get into all the pop-ups for the shop and crazy IAPs.) Bottom line is, Archero 2 is not a bad game. It’s probably the definitive version of the two titles in my opinion. I’m just saying that it feels more like an Archero 1.5 than an actual sequel.
