Roar Rampage Classic iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Roar Rampage is a physics-based arcade game that was recently re-released on the App Store by the infamous Neutronized. The game has you basically controlling the fists of a Kaiju monster. Your Kaiju automatically walks as you swipe the screen to destroy buildings, knock down helicopters, and more. This game was originally released back in 2013 under the old FDG Entertainment publishing umbrella and I absolutely loved it back then. So, I was excited to see the game pop back up on the App Store after all these years. Unfortunately, the current game feels like it’s missing a lot of the features of the original. I know that I’m getting old and all, but I remember a whole Story Mode, weapons that you could equip, and even cosmetics for your monster. I think there was even an Endless Mode released later on in an update. The current Roar Rampage seems to be stripped of all of that and left with a pretty basic level-based system. There are still some power-ups and a few unlockable monsters, but the game just feels a lot more hollow than it’s original build. Who knows. Maybe the original game is still owned by the old publisher. Roar Rampage may only be a fraction of its former self, but it’s still a lot of fun. If you haven’t tried this one out yet, it’s definitely worth your time. Plus, I always like seeing old games get re-released for newer generations to play.
