Drive, Not Dive iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

I know that I’m still slacking on reviews lately with this Roundup issue, but I ran across this little game that needed a bit more attention. Drive, Not Dive is a minimalist high-score chaser that was recently released on the App Store by developer Visas Pawar (Who Let The Chickens Out?). It’s a simple game where the object is to keep your vehicle on a plank for as long as possible. Tapping on the left or right side of the screen will move your vehicle left/right depending on where you want it to go. At first glance, the game feels a bit simplistic. But, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Just the slightest tap can send your vehicle flying off screen. As you progress, you’ll have missiles shot at you and a few other surprises. I honestly would’ve liked to have seen more diversions like this added to the game to keep things from feeling too repetitive. The game does give you the ability to pick up coins that you can use to purchase new vehicles and there are also GameCenter leaderboards which is a plus. All in all, Drive, Not Dive is a solid little high-score chaser. The minimalist visuals are a great touch and the UI is super clean. With a few more power-ups added and maybe some more color palettes, DND would be a solid title. Regardless, the game is still a lot of fun as is. Especially if you’re into leaderboards.

Drive, Not Dive is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup!
