(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

GunzTower is a survival-style action game that was recently released on the App Store by Korean developer 4Dollars. At first glance, I thought that this game was going to be like all the other casual survival games on mobile. And, that’s only partially true. GunzTower takes ideas from other games and kind of puts its own spin on them. So, your basic plot is to go through dungeons while mowing down waves of enemies. The shooting mechanics are similar to Archero where you can only shoot your primary weapon while standing still. But, once you get a secondary weapon, you can shoot that while moving. This adds a bit of strategy to your play style. As you progress, you’ll unlock tons of new weapons and gear that can all be upgraded. GunzTower has a lot going on and is almost confusing at times. There’s roulette wheels for weapon upgrades, relics to dig up, item farming, and more. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this game so far. The dungeons are unique with branching paths, traps, shops, and more. The shooting is satisfying and the controls feel good while playing on the iPhone. GunzTower isn’t going to be on anyone’s GOTY list, but for a casual F2P survival game, it’s pretty solid.
