Path of Kings iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Path of Kings is a first-person RPG that was recently released on the App Store by Tornado Bear. The game has you taking control of an unknown hero as you take on waves of enemies. Gameplay-wise, Path of Kings is a mixture of an endless runner and a card game. Your character automatically attacks enemies when meeting up with them. Once that enemy is killed, you are given a random gear card that you can either equip or sell. In true RPG form, PoK is all about stats. Each card has the ability to change your health, armor, damage, etc. You can either choose to equip the card or sell it off by swiping the screen like you were scrolling through Tinder. As you progress, you can use the cash that you’ve earned from selling cards to purchase permanent upgrades. Path of Kinks is surprisingly fun considering that most of the game plays out automatically. It’s fast paced, random, and you can even raid other players for better gear. Unfortunately, the game is dragged down by its lack of progression. Similar to endless runners, there’s not much else to do outside of the main gameplay loop. Regardless, if you’re looking for a fun little endless runner with a bit of depth, Path of Kings is worth checking out.
