(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
Do Not Feed The Monkeys is a simulation game by Fictiorama Studios and published by Alawar Entertainment. You get invited to join “The Primate Observation Club” where you observe and analyze the lives of caged monkeys (humans). It’s a really unique game where you watch strangers through surveillance cameras, listen to them talk, hear their stories, and try and analyze what is going on by finding keywords in conversations and cross referencing them online in a search engine. You’ll also have to take care of yourself while you’re “observing”. You’ll have to find work in order to pay rent and buy food. It’s also your job to control your sleep and hunger meters. Things can get pretty stressful at times. You’ll have 9 different screens that you’ll be switching back and forth through while urgent emails are popping up. On top of that, you’ll have people knocking on your door with random issues and a pissed off landlord hounding you for rent. Do Not Feed The Monkeys is a unique experience that I’ve been really enjoying. There’s something oddly satisfying about people watching and eavesdropping. If you’re a fan of games that break away from the norm, Do Not Feed The Monkeys is definitely worth picking up.
