Type II is a hybrid FPS/tower defense game by the Czech indie team at Scorch Game Studio. It’s a level-based game where you take control of a rail mounted MK-614t turret as you defend your base from waves of enemies. I was actually surprised at how fun this game was. Before each level, you set up your secondary towers along the paths the enemy is going to take. Once things start, the game plays out like a first-person shooter. The left v-stick moves your turret, while the right buttons fire of rounds. You can also switch positions mid-level via a rail to get off better shots. As you progress, you’ll unlock new weapons and towers to use. Type II focuses more on the action over strategy. There is a little bit of strategy involved, but I would have liked to have seen some sort of upgrade system for your turret and towers or something. Regardless, Type II is a hell of a lot of fun. The visuals are beautiful and the game runs great. If you’re looking for something a little different, Type II is definitely worth picking up.
