(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
Bouncer Story is a pixel art RPG/management sim game by the team at Helmi Games. You play as a bar bouncer in the 90’s that’s down on his luck. Unfortunately, he’s racked up a ton of debt in a card game and now has the mafia wants their money. This is where the game starts. You need to earn as much money as possible. You get paid every night depending on how good of a job you do. Things start off simple bouncing smaller bars. All you have to do is swipe left or right when customers come up to you. If they seem legit, let them in by swiping right. If they seem drunk or under age, tell them to beat it by swiping left. You need to keep the vibe in the bar positive by closing time or else you’ll start losing money. As you progress, you’ll earn experience and gain new skills that will help you out. You’ll also need to balance your stats. Like keeping your energy up for fights (fights are automatic) or boosting your charisma so you can sweet talk people into coming into the bar. It’s a tough balancing act at times. Apartment rent is due every week and the mafia will come from time to time wanting payment. If you’re not making enough money, you could be kicked out on the street or even sleeping with the fishes. Helmi Games really surprised me with this one. With a bunch of different endings, you have no clue how things are going to go. There’s so many twists and turns every night that I wanted to keep playing. If you’re a fan of management sims or are looking for something a little different. Bouncer Story is definitely worth picking up. Who knew that being in debt could be so much fun?!
