Swift Knight iOS SNAPP REVIEW!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)

I really need to bring back the “Endless Review of Endless Runners”.

Most of you already know that I have a soft spot for endless runners. They just seem to work so well on mobile. Swift Knight is a side-scrolling runner by the team at Rogue Games/Topchan Games. You play as an unnamed knight in the village of SNAPPshire. (Ok, I may have made that village part up.) The princess is missing and it’s up to you to try and find her. Your knight auto-runs, so all you have to do is tap on the right hand side of the screen to jump, and tap/hold on the left hand side to stop. Eventually, you’ll use that left side of the screen to open doors, treasure boxes, attack, etc. There’s a huge dragon that’s constantly chasing you in the caves, so speed is pretty important. Caves are filled with spikes, traps, and anything else dangerous that you can think of that’s going to hurt you or slow you down. There’s also coins and resources to collect for the shop in between runs. You can use the coins to buy new weapons and armor. The resources are for crafting potions. There’s a ton of potions that you can craft that will boost your abilities for future runs. The game is of course, F2P (free to play) so there’s the usual dual currency and IAPs. My main issue is the “courage elixir”. It’s basically an energy system with a timer. You get 5 runs before you run out of elixir. After that, it’s 30 minutes of waiting per elixir. That’s quite a long wait time. You can usually watch an ad to fill back up your 5 elixirs though. Regardless, Swift Knight is a really polished game with a charming cast of characters. If you can look past the whole timer issue, there’s really some fun to be had.

Switch Knight is also in this week’s iOS Roundup!
