(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
Necrosphere is a metroidvania game that recently released on the App Store by the team at Doublethink Games. You play as a cop named, Terry Cooper that has recently been killed while on a mission. Terry ends up in Necrosphere, which is a place you go when you die. With the help of his living partners, he needs to find a way out. It’s actually a cool premise and the story is a lot better than I expected it to be. The game itself is one of those frustrating, but fun games. You can only move left and right by touching each side of the screen. It seems easy at first until you figure out….THERE’S NO JUMP! You have to rely on the world itself to get around. I’ve been really digging this game so far. It’s definitely tough, but there’s plenty of checkpoints, so there’s rarely much backtracking. You’ll definitely need some quick thinking and good reflexes to get through some parts, so be prepared. But, if you’re a fan of metroidvanias or old-school platforming, Necrosphere is well worth picking up!
Necrosphere is also in this week’s iOS Roundup!
