Star Jolt iOS SNAPP REVIEW! (and SNAPP Challenge)

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)

I’ve been catching a lot of flack lately on not putting out the weekly SNAPP Challenges. I know. I know. It’s my fault. It’s tough keeping up on everything when you’re working solo. I’ve got a good one this week though!

Star Jolt is a retro-inspired high-score chaser that recently released on the App Store by indie developer, BeardyBird. With space being polluted with so much “space junk”, it has created tension between the lizard-like creatures of Orion and the stupid, but nice robots that they created. With you being cool with both of them, you set out to help clean up the mess. Story aside, the game is all about flying your spaceship as far as you can. What’s unique about this game is that you control the world around you rather than your ship. It’s just sliding your thumb left and right, but it takes a few runs to get used to. Star Jolt is mainly about competition. There’s tons of achievements, multiple scoreboards, and of course, GameCenter. I’m actually really impressed with Star Jolt so far. Even though it doesn’t have a bunch of bells & whistles, it more than makes up for it in charm.

If you want to get in on this week’s SNAPP Challenge, just post a screenshot of your high-score in our Discord or on social media with the hashtag, #SNAPPChallenge! The competition usually goes until Monday morning.

Star Jolt is also in this week’s iOS Roundup!
