(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
With the Super Bo…I mean the “Big Game” coming up (I don’t want to get sued), what better time to be talking about this game. Retro Bowl is a pixel art football game that recently released on the App Store by New Star Games. It’s a unique game that has a lot more going on than I originally expected. Retro Bowl is more of a management sim than a standard football game. You call the shots for everything! Managing the roster, dealing with the press, improving the stadium, managing the player’s salaries, and even their drama. Once that’s all out of the way, you’ve got to put your coaching hat on and start picking plays in the game. If that wasn’t enough, you’ve got to actually make the plays in the game too. Defense is played by the computer, but you make all of the offensive plays. I’ve really been enjoying Retro Bowl. There’s quite a bit of depth, but it’s really easy to play. If you’re a fan of casual sports games or even management sims, this one is definitely worth checking out.
