Metroidvania games are a subgenre of the action-adventure genre. The term comes from a mashup between the Metroid and Castlevania series. The reason being that Metroidvanias use game mechanics that are similar to both games. The first game that came to define the genre was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night back in 1997. Since then, Metroidvania has been a household name in the video game industry.
So, here’s five iOS games that should scratch that Metroidvania itch!
