(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
War Tortoise 2 is Foursaken Media’s sequel to their 2016 game of the same name. Those of you that haven’t played the original, War Tortoise is a ridiculous mashup of a wave based shooter, a defense game, an idle game, and an RPG with some really deep weapons/armor upgrading. You control a heavy tank tortoise as you slowly (you know, because it’s a tortoise) make your way across a huge landscape. It’s been awhile since I’ve played the original game, but in true sequel fashion, this one seems to be more of the same, but cranked up to eleven. The visuals are much better, there’s way more weapons, and there’s a lot more exploring this time around. Those of you that enjoyed the first game will feel right at home with this one. If you’ve never played War Tortoise before, I will tell you that it’s a bit of a grindfest, but in a good way. It’s all about getting as far as you can, upgrading, and starting over. (There’s actually a lot more involved, but you get what I mean.) I played the game on an iPhone 11 and an iPad Mini 4. It’s played well on both devices. I had to turn the resolution down a notch on the Mini, but I preferred playing it on the bigger screen. It gets a little tough seeing them killer beetles from a distance on the iPhone. Regardless, Foursaken has done a hell of a job and delivered us yet another indie gem with War Tortoise 2!
War Tortoise 2 is also in this week’s iOS Roundup!
