(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
bitDungeonIII is the third installment of the bitDungeon series that started back in 2012 by KintoGames. Those that haven’t played any of the games, bitDungeonIII is a pixel art action/adventure rogue-lite game with a randomly generated overworld. What’s unique about this game is that you are dropped into the map with very little instructions. It almost feels like the game is broken as you just roam around killing enemies. Eventually, you’ll run across NPCs that’ll give you quests and before you know it, you’ve figured the game out. The controls are as simple as tapping on the screen where you want your character to move and attack. I would have like a single v-stick, but that’s just me. Regardless, I haven’t been able to put this game down. The more I play it, the more I start to appreciate it. There’s a big overworld to explore with several dungeons, and tons of loot to find and upgrade. It’s just an all around solid roguelike game. If you liked the first two games, bitDungeonIII is just as good with the addition of P2P online play. If you haven’t played any of the games, I highly recommend picking bitDungeonIII up.
