(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
I’ve always been a fan of the Hellrider games by indie developer Anji Games. I still remember coming across the first game back in 2015. There’s something about the art style that I absolutely love. The fat tires on the bikes, the hellish characters. It all blends together perfectly. What I really liked was that the games were always a little “out there” and different from other titles. Hellrider 3 is everything that made the first two games great, but changes things up enough to almost make it feel like a completely different game. This time around everything feels more open and there’s more focus on the story. It’s a welcome change in my opinion. The behind-the-back camera makes it feel more like an actual racing game than an arcade game. Don’t get me wrong. There’s plenty of weird gameplay mechanics that made the first two games so good. But, I really like how this game was put together. Now, I will say that Hellrider 3 feels a lot tougher than the first two games, but it’s nothing you can’t get past after a few tries. Hellrider 3 is another solid game put out by Anji Games. It takes a few races to really open itself up, but if you stick with it, you’ll really appreciate all it has to offer. Definitely check this one out!
