(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
I know that I’ve been slacking on the weekly SNAPP Challenges. There’s so many high-score chasers out there, that it’s hard to pick one that stands out. Not to mention that they are hard to review! Then, I came across Turbo Snake by indie developer, Sam Vickery. Turbo Snake is exactly how it sounds. It’s a fast paced spinoff of the classic game “Snake”. As you collect food, your tail will grow longer. Enemies will come at you from all directions and if you’re hit, you lose part of your tail……Hell, why am I trying to explain a 20+ year old game? Wikipedia says that there are over 300 Snake-like games for iOS alone! I haven’t played all of them, but I’ve played quite a few over the years and I can easily say that Turbo Snake is the absolute best variant of Snake that I’ve ever played. It’s fast, frantic, and most of all fun! The controls are smooth and there’s a ton of cool power-ups to keep things fresh. Even though Turbo Snake has 4 different difficulty modes, I would have liked to see a little more added to the game. (unlockable snakes?) Regardless, Turbo Snake is an absolute gem that should be checked out!
