Darkest Rogue iOS SNAPP REVIEW!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Here I go reviewing another roguelike game on the App Store. I try to throw some variety at your faces, but I couldn’t let this one fall into the App Store Abyss. Darkest Rogue is a turn-based roguelike by Ransuz Studio under the Dreamplay Games umbrella. You play as a cursed hero as they try to lift the curse by finding the “Necronomicon” book of magic. It’s a decent story, but the gameplay is what makes this title unique. The game uses slingshot mechanics to get around and attack. Pulling back and letting go of your character will have you bouncing off of walls and automatically attacking enemies. It’s a simple concept, but it makes the game so much fun. As in most RPGs, there’s tons of gear and loot to collect. You can also upgrade your equipment and skills. Darkest Rogue may be a little rough around the edges at times. Personally, I feel that some runs can go on fairly long without a save point. Regardless, it’s a fun game that’s full of charm. If you’re a fan a roguelikes/RPGs, definitely check this one out.
