(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Demon Realms is a top-down shooter that recently released on the App Store by indie developer, UnoDios. It’s a game that takes a bit getting used to, but once you get the hang of things, you can’t stop playing. You start off as one of five different characters as you make your way through randomly generated dungeons. After a brief tutorial, the game throws you right into the action. The object is to make it through each dungeon with your loot and your life. If you don’t make it, you lose what you’ve collected. So, there’s a bit of roguelike elements in the mix. In between levels, you can purchase new weapons, upgrade your character, and even unlock/buy new magic spells. I’ve really been digging this game so far. And I’m absolutely in love with the gritty hand-drawn visuals. I will say that the controls aren’t perfect, but they serve their purpose. The buttons are a bit small on an iPhone too. Regardless, Demon Realms is a solid title. There’s plenty of content and the F2P mechanics are pretty fair. If you’re a fan of dual-stick shooters or action games, this one is definitely worth checking out!
Demon Realms is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup!
