(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Slime vs Machinegun is a level based/bullethell/survival/roguelike by Atrium Games that was recently released on the App Store. This is another one of those no story “get right the action” titles. Basically, hungry slimes have destroyed your precious carrot crops and it’s up to you to seek revenge. The mechanics are pretty simple. You move around the levels by sliding your thumb while your character auto-shoots anything that comes within the circle around them. Things start off pretty simple. You’re basically just finding a few gems scattered throughout the area to finish the level. But, things start to ramp up fairly quickly. During each level, you’ll collect currency from killing enemies that you use to upgrade in between runs. Upgrades range from new weapons, armor, extra lives, and more. Keep in mind that once you die, you’ll have to start the entire game over. The only thing that you keep is some of the currency. Slime vs Machinegun is a short game. It can be beat in only a couple hours. But, it’s a fun couple of hours! I would have liked to see a little more when it came to upgrades. It also would’ve been cool to have some palette color options. Regardless, Slime vs Machine is another survival game worth having on your device.
