(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Omega 13 is Game Stew’s newest title to hit the App Store. With this game, you take on the role of a mech pilot that is looking for his lost love. In order to find his loved one, he must fight his way to the top of the Championship. It’s a weird premise that somehow fits right in in this game. To say that Omega 13 is unique is an understatement. There’s mech fighting, drama, prostitution, and a love story all wrapped in this pixel art package. You’re basically climbing your way up the ranks in the mech championship while snooping for information on your loved one in the local bar in between matches. I will say that it took me a little while to warm up to this game. I’m not a big mech fighting fan to begin with and the tutorial consisted of just a few pages of reading. So, I was a bit lost for the first 30 minutes or so. But, once I figured things out, I really began to enjoy Omega 13. Matches are turn-based and involve a bit of strategy. As you progress, you’ll earn cash to upgrade your mech and unlock new equipment. The story part of the game is interesting, but nothing to write home about (so far). I’d say that if you’re a fan of Game Stew’s games, this game is another unique one by them that’s worth picking up. There’s tons of matches to play and bosses to fight. If you’ve never played a Game Stew’s game, Omega 13 does pretty well standing on its own. Just give it a little time to warm up to you.
