(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Static Shift Racing is an open-world racing game by Timbo Jimbo that I somehow missed when it originally released on the App Store. There are so many bad racing games with fancy screenshots, that I tend to gloss over them at times. Thankfully, I decided to give this one a try. SSR is a mixture of a little bit of everything in the racing genre. There are circuit races, sprints, drift attacks, and more. Everything can be reached through a seamless nighttime open world. Like most racing games, you start off with a standard stock car. As you progress, you’ll earn money to upgrade and customize your vehicle. Everything is there from rims/tires, to body mods. The game has a fairly deep customization system. So far I’ve been pretty impressed with SSR. The on-screen controls are nice and responsive and the vehicle physics are pretty solid. The only downside is that with the game being F2P, you’ll have to deal with 2 different currencies and “race passes”. Luckily, things seem pretty fair so far. So, if you’re a fan of racing games, Static Shift Racing is worth checking out.
