(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
I don’t usually review a lot of idle games, but this one really stuck out to me. Metropolis Tycoon is an idle/management game by Rockbite Games/Game Veterans that was recently released on the App Store. You start off as the new mayor in this 1920’s black & white noir-style city. And it is your job to turn it into a bustling metropolis. The management stuff that’s in most games is all there. You build mines, craft resources, buy and sell buildings, and so on. What makes Metropolis Tycoon stand out from the rest is its unique 1920’s theme and story. You never know what’s going to happen next. There’s old time gangsters trying to get a cut of your profits, dealing with taxes, and even some other worldly stuff going on that I won’t mention. It actually feels like a living breathing world going on at times and there are a ton of different things that’ll keep you busy. Even though Metropolis Tycoon is F2P, it doesn’t feel like it’s pushing you too hard to purchase IAPs. Sure, there is the usual multiple currency and timers, but it’s pretty subtle. The game can also be played offline, so that’s a plus. Regardless of how you feel about F2P management games, Metropolis Tycoon is a fun time waster that’s definitely worth checking out.
