Deathblaze iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Deathblaze is an action-platformer by MRT Game Studio that was recently released on the App Store. The description calls it a “souls-like with pixel art” and I’ll say that that’s partially true. You basically play as a dark knight as you make your way through hordes of evil wizards, knights, dragons, and monsters. The pixel art is well done with some cool looking character designs and while the on-screen controls are basic, they get the job done. Deathblaze is one of those games that could’ve been really cool if it had a little more polish tying everything together. Everything is there that could make the game great! The platforming isn’t bad, the visuals look good, and you can even upgrade your character and purchase new weapons. Unfortunately, the UI is pretty rough and I didn’t really care for the 3-star level structure. It just makes the game feel a bit thrown together in my opinion. I will say that Deathblaze is fairly good. But if the developer cleaned the UI up and tied the levels together with a deeper story, the game could be great. All in all, the game is still worth checking out.
