Torecower iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Torecower is a minimalist tower defense-style game by developer Softwool that was recently released on the App Store. The game has you taking on waves of incoming enemies as you try to defend your core from being hit. You earn money as you shoot down enemies. That money can be used to buy new shooters, arcanes, magnets, etc. All of this is done on the fly, so you need to be quick, but also strategic. After each wave you can pick an upgrade buff to help you on your run. Once your core is hit, it’s game over. So, yes. Torecower can be brutal at times , but it’s always a lot of fun. I would’ve liked to have seen a little more permanent upgrades or color palettes to unlock. Something to keep you playing. As of right now, there are 10 different “talents” that you can unlock though. So, I can’t complain too much. All in all, Torecower is a really unique tower defense/roguelike with an addictive gameplay loop. If you’re a fan of shooters, defense-style games, or roguelikes, this one is definitely worth picking up!
