Gun Force iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Gun Force is a side-scrolling action-adventure game that was recently released on the App Store. You take on the role of Leon who is the commander of the “Gun Force”. Your job is to take on “The Legion” as you take on waves of troops. The run n’ gun gameplay mechanic in Gun Force may be familiar to some players. Your character auto-aims/shoots while you’re basically just controlling the movement and jumps. After each wave, you’ll stack upgrades until you reach a boss at the end of the chapter. Once you die, you lose all upgrades, but keep your currency and experience. It’s a pretty standard survival/roguelike loop, but can be fun if done well. I really wanted to like Gun Force. The pixel art is well done, there are tons of weapons and characters to unlock/upgrade, and it’s pretty fun to play at times. Unfortunately, like with a lot of F2P games, there are way too many “extras” going on. Gems, coins, blueprints to upgrade each character, weapon, and skill, Supply Drops, Battle Pass, etc. There’s just way too much to collect and keep track of. Gun Force can be a lot of fun at times. Unfortunately, its ecosystem kind of ruined it for me.
