Bullethell Heroes iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

I know this is two shmup-style SNAPP Reviews in a row, but I wanted to point this one out. Bullethell Heroes is a bullethell shooter game that was recently released on the App Store by indie developer Nanami Shindi. Bullethell Heroes is pretty much your typical bullethell shmup. It’s a simple level-based game where you play as one of 25 different heroes as they take on waves of enemies with a TON of bullets. I’ve always been pretty horrible at bullethell games. But this one makes me feel like I actually have a fighting chance at passing each level. BH has a bit of RPG mechanics sprinkled in that a lot of bullethell games don’t. As you progress, you’ll earn coins that you can use to upgrade your character’s attributes. This helps a lot with frustration. You always feel like your next run is going to be the one that beats the level. Bullethell Heroes is a pretty solid game so far. There are 25 different characters to unlock and upgrade, challenges to complete, boss rushes, and a bunch more. The pixel art sprites are well done with over 100 different enemies and the soundtrack isn’t all bad either. The game is F2P, so there are some IAPs for coins and to unlock heroes. But other than that, everything feels pretty balanced. If you’re a fan of shmups or bullethell games, Bullethell Heroes is well worth checking out!
