Kingdom Eighties iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Kingdom Eighties is the newest installment in the Kingdom series published by Raw Fury. I’ve always been a huge fan of this series, so I’ve been waiting for this to hit mobile. Eighties plays fairly similar to its predecessors. You control the “Leader” as you upgrade your kingdom during the day and defend it from the Greed at night. The whole eighties theme in this version is a nice change of pace. Even though the game plays very similar to the others, things still feel very fresh. This time around, there is more of a story involved with cutscenes looking like they were ripped right out of the old Saturday morning cartoons! I’ve got about 3 or 4 hours sunk into Kingdom Eighties so far and I’m absolutely loving every minute of it. The pixel art is well done, the controls are tight, and the retro synth music really sets the mood. Even though the core loop is similar to the older titles, there’s enough new stuff here to deserve its own stand alone game. Kingdom Eighties is an absolute blast from the past and a welcome addition to the series. If you’re a fan of original games or just like strategy games, definitely pick this one up!
