Animal Arena iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Animal Arena is a pixel art battle game and the newest title by Adventure Islands. The game has you and up to 3 other players duke it out against each other on a single screen. The controls are pretty simple with each player having only a single button to worry about. Characters automatically move while you tap the button to jump. The object is to jump on top of your opponents to attack them. To keep things fresh, there are random power-ups that you can pick up to turn the tides in a match. Animal Arena is a lot of fun when it’s played like it’s intended. I played with my wife and kids on the iPad and had a blast. There are two different game modes, “Timed” and “Live” modes. Timed Mode has you playing for 99 seconds as you try to rack up as many points as possible. Lives Mode (my favorite) is more of a Last Man Standing match. Even though the family humored me and played with me for a little while, I mostly played the game solo. You can play against bots and even though it works well, it’s just not the same as playing against people. An online multiplayer would’ve been nice, but I understand that a lot of work and resources comes with developing something like that. For what it is, Animal Arena is a really fun battle game. The pixel art is absolutely beautiful and there are quite a few maps and characters to unlock. So, if you’re looking for something fun to play with friends (even if your friends are bots), Animal Arena is definitely worth checking out!
