Derby Madness iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Dimension Technics is the developer that released the title that originally got me into mobile gaming back when the App Store first opened. Alpine Crawler and later on Bus Derby were 2 of my favorite racing games to ever grace my iPhone. Well, Dimension Technics brought Christmas to us early and have released Derby Madness! Derby Madness is the sequel to Bus Derby bringing everything that was great about the original game and turning it up to 11. If you’ve never played Bus Derby, it was this gritty racing/derby game with crazy characters, over-the-top races, and great physics. It wasn’t the greatest looking game on the App Store, but it was definitely one of the funnest. Thankfully, Derby Madness has the same grittiness as its predecessor. Opponents are tough to beat, the tracks will test you, and you will lose quite a bit until you start upgrading your vehicle and getting a feel for the road. As far as visuals go, DT did an excellent job this time around with real time car deformation. Doors flying off, glass shattering, and fender crunching is just a bit of what I’ve come across while racing. Speaking of racing, there are 6 championships with each one having its own set of series. There is seriously a TON of races! As you progress, you’ll earn cash that you can use to purchase and upgrade new vehicles. I can’t fit in a single paragraph how much content is packed into this game. Derby Madness is an absolute gem and is already making me rethink my GOTY submissions. If you’re a fan of racing games, this game needs to be on your device!
