After The End iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

After The End is a roguelike survival-style game that was recently released on the App Store by developer Petr Petechinskiy. The game has you playing a survivor in a post apocalyptic world as you struggle to just stay alive. For The first 20 minutes of this game, I honestly wasn’t very impressed. The visuals are primitive, the controls are a bit wonky, and everything else just had me feeling confused. After The End mixes a lot of genres. One area/level will have you making your way through corridors while killing enemies, while the next level may have you setting up turrets in a tower defense scenario. What links these all together is the story. The choices you make determine how the game plays out. If you decide to take a sword out of a treasure chest, you will need to complete the following levels with that sword. If you fail, maybe try taking the gun with you instead and seeing how things go. It’s all about following the story and making the right choices. After The End feels like an unreleased classic PC title that was just found in some developer’s basement. Sure, there’s a lot of text to read and the gameplay may be a bit rough around the edges, but if you give it some time, it can be a real gem.
