Flying Tank iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Flying Tank is a side-scrolling shooter and the newest game by Hexage to hit the App Store. In this game you play as Sgt. David Walker. A fighter pilot that is helping reclaim the earth from alien invaders. The first thing that I noticed with Flying Tank is the absolutely beautiful 2.5D art style. Bullets and lasers glow as enemy ships explode into pieces across the screen. The game is split up between 24 different levels ranging from you doing odd jobs to shooting down huge alien bosses. In between each level, you can use the money that you collected to upgrade your ship with new primary/secondary weapons, drones, bombs, and more. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this game so far. Flying Tank is one of the better shooters that I’ve played in the past couple of years. The controls are super tight and the shooting is really satisfying. Each level is fairly long and can be played over and over. So, with 24 levels total, it’ll take you a bit of time to finish the game. I do wish that there was more of a variety of ships to use. You get 2 ships with the base game and 4 more locked behind the Deluxe Edition IAP. Luckily, there are tons of unique weapons to unlock that keep things fresh. If you’re at all a fan of shmups, Flying Tank is an absolute blast and needs to be on your device.
