FTA: Toon War iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

It’s been a while since I pulled a game from the iOS Attic. Toon War is a top-down shooter that was released back around 2019 by Lemondo Games. The game has you controlling a military vehicle as you try to liberate peaceful villages from evil forces. Toon War isn’t the most polished game. To be honest, I actually like the primitive visuals. It kind of reminds me of some of the old Nintendo DS titles. The dual-stick controls aren’t the greatest either, but they do get the job done. But what this game lacks, it more than makes up for in fun. There’s something about driving around while mowing down enemy troops that really tickles my peach. As you progress, you’ll earn “stars” that you can use to buy new weapons and upgrade your vehicle. Toon War may be a bit wonky by today’s standards. The visuals aren’t that great, the UI has aged, and the controls are a bit stiff. But with a 7+ hour campaign and no F2P shenanigans outside of a few optional currency IAPs, it’s definitely a fun little time killer to keep you busy during the slow weeks of gaming.
