Bullet Hell Days iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Bullet Hell Days is a…….well, it’s a bullethell-style game that was recently released on the App Store by Japanese developer Makoto Yanagisawa. Normally, I’m not a big fan at bullethell games. I’m horrible at them, so I usually stay away from them. But, BHD feels a little more attainable to me. The game is basically a bunch of boss fights. Each level you will be put up against an enemy with some sort of unique attack pattern. At first, you’re basically just dodging bullets as you fire on the enemy’s turrets. As you progress, you’ll need to be a bit more strategic. Some turrets are stronger than others, some are set on a delay until you shoot down a certain number of weapons. Some of the later levels almost feel like chaotic puzzles that you need to complete. I’ve really been digging Bullet Hell Days so far. The ship controls are pretty tight and I absolutely love the steampunk/seasons theme with the symphonic soundtrack. The whole game just feels really polished. I would’ve liked to have had some sort of weapon change-out or upgrade system implemented. But, the game does get a little better once you start unlocking ships with their own unique firing patterns. It at least gives you a bit of choice before each level. Either way, Bullet Hell Days is a really solid game for shooter fans. There’s plenty of levels, no IAPs, and minimal ads. I highly recommend checking this one out!
