(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Paragon Pioneers 2 is a city-building idle game and the sequel to last year’s game with the same name. This is one of those games where there is too much to fit into a single SNAPP Review, but I’m going to try. So, basically the object of Paragon Pioneers is to build up your own settlement. You start off building huts for settlers, lumberjacks for cutting down trees, wells for water, your basic necessities. As your settlement grows, you’ll need to conquer new lands from enemy trolls, create production chains and even transporting routes to other areas. I’ve sunk a few hours into this game so far and am still unlocking new stuff. My only issue so far has been that there is a lot of information thrown at you in the beginning. There is a lot of reading and text popping up when you are just wanting to play the game. Each building/item has its own paragraph or two of text. It definitely goes to show how much effort was put into the game, but it’s a bit overwhelming when you first start. I really liked the first Paragon Pioneers game, but this sequel has blown me away with how much has been added in such a short period of time. There’s literally hundreds of buildings to build, goods to produce, and perks to research. Paragon Pioneers 2 is a game that will be on a lot of people’s GOTY lists for 2024. If you’re at all a fan of city-builders, I highly recommend picking this one up. There’s also a “Lite” version if you want to check it out for yourself.
