(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
BombFall is a 2D platformer that was recently released on the App Store by developer Alexandre Senges. In a cyberpunk world, you are stuck in a tower as bombs are dropping from the sky. The goal is to try to keep your distance and not get blown up. As the bombs explode, they will open up new floors in the tower. As you drop from floor to floor, you pick up tokens. Tokens are the scoring system for the leaderboards. There’s not a lot else to BombFall. It’s mainly just a high-score chaser. There are some secret rooms that you can come across and some shields that you can buy, but that’s it. It’s a shame because I really like this game. The physics are really well done and the overall concept is unique. But, I felt like it needed something more than just chasing a high-score to keep me playing more than a handful of times. Everything else is there. The pixel art visuals are well done and the on-screen controls are super tight. I….just….wanted….more! Regardless, BombFall is a game that needs to be checked out. Even if it’s just for a handful of runs.
