Meherisis iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Meherisis is a pixel art platformer that was recently released on the App Store by developer Artixelp Games. The game has you taking on control of a young villager as you try to save the world of Lypotranisia from impending doom. Once you’re given a brief story in the beginning, you are left to kind of figure the rest out for yourself. You spend a lot of your time exploring in this game. There aren’t many hints or signs to help you out, so you end up figuring out where to go by chance. The level design is fun yet challenging with spikes being your worst enemy. I found myself dying most of the time due to spike traps. This is mainly because of a very short jump mechanic. You have to have perfect timing in order to make a successful jump. Meherisis doesn’t really have a lot going on outside of what you see in the screenshots. The game starts off pretty slow, but if you stick with it (and get used to that jump mechanic), you’ll eventually unlock some new abilities. Unfortunately, some might not make it to that point. Meherisis is far from perfect and could definitely use some tweaks. But it’s not a bad game by any means. If you’re looking for a 2D side scroller with a bit of a challenge, Meherisis may be worth checking out.
