Ribbit Run iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Ribbit Run is an endless runner that was recently released on the App Store by developer Thatcher Healy. In this simple game you play as a frog as you try to survive as long as possible before eventually “croaking”. (See what I did there?) Even though Ribbit Run seems simple on the outside, there’s actually quite a few things to keep an eye on in order to survive. First off, you have to stay away from predators like large birds and fish. You also have to pay attention to keeping your skin moist (I hate that word). So, diving into water occasionally is a must. And of course, while underwater, you’ll need to keep track of your air supply so you don’t end up drowning. It all boils down to eating bugs and staying alive to get the highest score possible. I’ve been having a good time with Ribbit Run so far. Sure, the game isn’t perfect. The visuals aren’t super polished and the slingshot controls are a bit wonky at times. Also, with Ribbit Run being a high-score chaser, it’s a shame that there aren’t some sort of leaderboards implemented. Even with the game’s flaws, Ribbit Run is still a fun little endless runner. (And of course, I still have a soft spot for endless runners) So, if you’re a fan of the genre, this one is definitely worth checking out.
